A 25-year-old sugar boy, Uwadiegwu Henry, and two others have
been arrested by the police after a 40-year-old woman identified as
Helen Peters allegedly died in their custody. Their plan was to kidnap
her and thereafter extort money from her rich husband as ransom.
According to Tribune, Henry and his accomplices, Monday
Ochonu 25 and Taiwo Adebiyi, allegedly committed the offence at 36,
Fashola Street, Papa Ashafa, in Agege area of Lagos.
Henry told the police that he was the boyfriend of the deceased.
He was said to have solicited the help of Taiwo, a nurse who supplied
a Lagatine injection which was allegedly used to incapacitate the
victim so as to kidnap her.
The third accomplice, Monday, was said to have tied the deceased’s hands
and legs backward with a rope and also covered her mouth with a piece
of cloth which suffocated her to death.
The original plan of the suspects was to kidnap the victim and
thereafter extort money from her rich husband as ransom, but their plan
backfired after the lady died in their custody.
